“The Backbone” is an artistic object that consists of 43 figures of Christ lined up together in a glass and metal case. These figures are simple, everyday objects that are given a deeper meaning through their connection to one another. The Christian faith so present in the Alps is shown to be the backbone of society. The idea of belief as a skeleton creates a single, strong image, and what is hidden, with its fundamental significance for our culture, is revealed. Each of these figures once hung on a graveyard cross, and therefore also symbolizes a human life.

“The backbone” is also an object whose appearance goes beyond the visible, which can be traced to the power of the gaze. This results in an object that emits its own spatiality as soon as the viewer draws closer. It shows from afar what it promises up close.

"Das Rückgrat" ist ein Objekt aus 43 aneinander gereihten Christuskorpusse in einer Glas/Metalvitrine. Hier handelt es sich um einen einfachen Alltagsgegenstand, der jedoch durch die Anordnung eine tiefere Bedeutung offenbart. Der im Alpenraum vorherrschende christliche Glaube wird zum Rückgrat. Glaube als Skelett - so entsteht ein "ein starkes Bild" und das Verborgene, seine grundlegende Bedeutung in unserer Kultur, wird sichtbar gemacht. Denn jeder einzelne Korpus hing an einem Friedhofskreuz - als Symbol für ein menschliches Wesen.

Auch ist "Das Rückgrat" ein Objekt, das über seine eigene Sichtbarkeit hinaus das verbreitet, was mit dem Vermögen des Blickes zu tun hat. So gesehen ein Objekt das seine eigene spezifische Räumlichkeit produziert, sobald der Betrachter sich ihm nähert. Es zeigt von fern, was es von nah verspricht.
